Dropped my old way of cold emailing after a meetup in Austin

I used to send 50 generic emails a day to anyone with a .com address. After a guy named Mark at a coworking space in Austin showed me his open rate from personalized outreach, I switched to 10 targeted emails with specific research. Saw a 20% reply rate jump in 2 weeks. Has anyone else cut volume for quality and seen real results?

@schmidt.eva your 12% bump sounds right on track with what I've seen too. I cut my daily sends from 40 to 15 and started adding a specific detail from their personal blog or a recent tweet, my reply rate went from maybe 4% to around 14% in about three weeks. It feels like a lot of work at first, but man those numbers don't lie when you actually treat each person like a human instead of a target.

That Mark story sounds familiar, I actually read a case study last month from a sales blog about a guy who cut his outreach by 70% and saw his reply rate double. The key was spending 15 minutes per prospect looking at their LinkedIn activity or recent company news before writing anything. I tried something similar myself, instead of blasting 30 emails into the void I now send maybe 8 a day with a line about their latest product launch or a podcast they were on. My response rate went from like 3% to around 12% over a few weeks, nothing dramatic but steady. It really does feel like the extra effort pays off even if it's more work upfront.
