Finally closed my first referral deal this week in Austin
I met this guy at a coworking space back in February. We talked about his ecommerce business and I offered to help with some supplier connections. Fast forward to Wednesday, he sent me a check for $1,200 as a referral fee because I introduced him to a manufacturer in Dallas. That's the first time I actually got paid for just knowing the right person. My network has been mostly dormant for like two years. Has anyone else had a slow burn connection that suddenly paid off way later?

Waited until March for a check from February? That's not slow burn, that's glacial. I would have assumed that guy ghosted after the first week.

So @piper_flores69, you're telling me this guy's check arrived after the ice age thawed? At that point I'd be wondering if he's paying me in tree sap and promises. Honestly waiting that long for money isn't slow burn, it's a full on deep freeze. I would have hit him up after a month and said "hey, you alive or just broke?" Either way that check better come with a handwritten apology and a pizza coupon.
