I finally saw the difference between a warm intro and a cold email in 3 months

Started tracking my outreach back in April. Warm intros from mutual connections closed at about 1 in 5, while cold emails got me maybe 1 in 50. The big change was when I asked a partner at a co-working space to introduce me to their tenants face to face. That one shift over the last 90 days tripled my meeting rate. Has anyone else seen this big of a gap between the two?

Did you track how many of those cold emails actually got opened? I ran a test last year and found cold emails had a solid 40% open rate but almost nobody replied. The real gap wasn't about interest. It was about trust. Strangers ignore cold emails because they feel like spam even when they're not. A warm intro skips that whole trust wall. You already got the social proof built in. That's hard to beat with any email trick.

Wait, does your tracking account for the time it takes to actually get those warm intros? I spent six weeks last year trying to get a single intro from a guy I knew at a local business group. He kept saying he'd mention me to his contacts but never did. Meanwhile I probably sent out 200 cold emails in that same six weeks and got maybe 4 replies. It felt like the warm intro route was a total time waster compared to just blasting emails. But then a buddy of mine got 8 meetings from one lunch where a friend introduced him around. I think the gap is real but the effort to get each warm intro is way different. You can burn a month on one intro that goes nowhere.
