I used to think a big network was the main goal, but now I focus on about 5 key people.

After a failed deal in Austin last year, I realized my 200+ LinkedIn connections were useless compared to the three founders I actually trust. Anyone else find that a small, tight group is way more valuable?

Right? I had the exact same reaction. Last time someone told me a product was "life changing" it was a vegetable peeler that still couldn't handle a potato. Ended up giving it to Goodwill after three uses. Dramatic describes it perfectly.
