My networking group turned into a dinner party disaster in 6 months

I joined this local entrepreneur meetup in Austin back in March. First few months it was all business cards and actual referrals, I picked up 3 new clients from it. Then around month 4, the organizer started letting in people who just wanted to sell MLM stuff. Last meeting had more Tupperware talk than real networking. I counted 12 people pitching side hustles instead of swapping leads. Anyone else see their solid networking group get hijacked like that?

12 people pitching side hustles sounds like a solid record, I'm surprised nobody started selling essential oils during the dinner course. Real networking groups turn into pyramid scheme potlucks faster than you can say "let me show you this amazing opportunity." Hope you grabbed a good referral before the Tupperware took over.

Did you actually walk out with a solid lead, @patp79, or just a stack of business cards you'll never call (the usual outcome)?
