My pitch meeting got crashed by a very loud parrot

I was at a coffee shop in Austin trying to meet a potential investor for my app idea. Right as I started my demo, the owner's pet parrot, who was in a cage behind the counter, let out a perfect imitation of a car alarm. This happened three times in a row, totally killing my flow. The investor just stared, and I had to shout over the noise to finish my points. We ended up laughing about it, and I got a follow-up meeting anyway. Has anyone else had a networking moment totally derailed by something wild?

Oh man, that beats my worst meeting story by a mile. The loudest thing I ever dealt with was my own stomach growling during a silent part of a presentation. At least a parrot is a fun story, my gut just made it sound like I was dying of hunger. Seriously though, glad you got the follow up, that investor clearly has a sense of humor. If you can pitch through a car alarm impression, you can handle anything they throw at you later.

But what if the parrot was actually trying to help?
