Pro tip: I chose the local networking group over a big online platform and it paid off fast

I had to decide between paying $200 for a national entrepreneur forum or joining a free local meetup here in Portland, and I went with the meetup. Within three weeks I got two solid referrals from people I actually shook hands with, has anyone else had better luck with in-person over digital?

Same thing happened to me at a small meetup in Denver. That one handshake turned into my best client for three years.

Back in 2019 I paid $50 for a ticket to a local small biz meetup at a coffee shop in Austin. Honestly I thought it would be a waste of time but the guy sitting next to me ran a printing company and he ended up being my main supplier for two years. That single handshake led to way more actual work than any of the facebook groups I was in at the time.
