That networking app I swore was a scam ended up landing me a solid partnership

I joined FounderMatch 6 months ago thinking it was just another paid directory. Ignored it for weeks. Finally messaged a guy from Portland who builds packaging for small food brands. We talked for 20 minutes, he connected me to a distributor that cut my shipping costs by 30%. Still feels weird that it worked. Has anyone else gotten a real deal from one of these apps?

The Portland guy sounds like a real find. I've been on FounderMatch for about 4 months now and I kept seeing this one name pop up in the notifications, a guy named Tom who runs a small logistics company in Ohio. I finally messaged him last week and it was just a casual chat about shipping times but he casually mentioned a route I could use that saves me 2 days on delivery. Haven't closed a partnership yet but I think it's coming. The weird thing is how random and fast it happens, like you can spend weeks ignoring the app and then one 20 minute call changes the whole game. I'm starting to believe the real value is in those quick connections more than the fancy pitch decks people post there.

That bit about "one 20 minute call changing the whole game" is exactly what I've been hearing from other people too. I read a post somewhere that said the best deals on those platforms come from random chats not the polished presentations.
