Virtual networking feels fake compared to grabbing a real coffee with founders
Honestly, I joined three online entrepreneur groups this year hoping to make connections. Tbh, most calls are just people talking at each other with no real follow-up. Ngl, the one time I met a local founder for coffee, we ended up collaborating on a project. I think digital networks are missing the point if there's no chance for a real chat.

Ugh I totally disagree it's about the space design. The problem is PEOPLE treat online networking like a checklist task. They just want to add more contacts to their list without actually caring who you are. Even in a small breakout room, if someone's heart isn't in it, the chat still feels empty. Real connection needs real intent, not just a different video call layout.

Forget breakout rooms, we need to build in actual shared tasks. Make people solve a small problem together before they can even exchange LinkedIn links.

Consider if digital networking fails because we treat it like a broadcast channel. The best online groups I've seen force small breakout rooms for actual conversation. Could the fix be designing virtual spaces that force a real chat instead of just letting people talk?
