Critique from a veteran esthetician made me switch my extraction technique
I was at a workshop in Portland last month and this lady with 20 years of experience watched me work. She said "you're pressing too deep on the nose, you're gonna cause broken capillaries." I changed to a lighter rolling motion and my clients actually bruise way less now... Has anyone else had to unlearn something they thought was right?

Pressing too deep on the nose" yeah that's basically a rite of passage for anyone who's ever touched a face lol. I learned that one the hard way too when a client literally looked like I'd punched her.

Honestly that's such a good point. It really is like a rite of passage, you're not alone there. Ngl I've seen so many estheticians do it without realizing, and then they panic when the client's face stays red for hours. Tbh it's all about that featherlight touch on the nose, even if you think you need more pressure for extractions. It's wild how much a tiny mistake can totally change someone's whole look.
