Had a client cry in my treatment room last Tuesday and it still messes with me

I was doing a basic facial on a regular client in my studio in Denver, about 25 minutes in. She just starts tearing up out of nowhere. I asked if I was pressing too hard or something and she said no, it was the first time someone had touched her face gently in months. Turns out she'd been going through a rough divorce and nobody had even hugged her in weeks. It hit me hard because we just think we're doing extractions and masks, but sometimes people are paying for human connection more than the skincare. Makes me wonder how many of my clients are coming in just as much for the talk as the treatment. Anyone else have a moment like this where you realized your job was way more than just skin?

I get what you're saying but "first time someone touched her face gently in months" feels a bit dramatic. People cry for all sorts of reasons and sometimes it's just the quiet atmosphere that gets to them. Not saying there's no connection, but I think we sometimes read too much into a client's emotions.
