Had a client today who made me rethink how I do extractions
She was maybe 22, comes in with really clear skin except for these tiny closed comedones along her jaw. I start working on them and she goes 'oh please be gentle, my last esthetician ruined my skin barrier.' Spent like 20 minutes just checking in with her pressure levels instead of my usual routine. Has anyone else had a client totally change your technique mid-service?

Did you end up finishing all the extractions or did you just call it halfway through?

Four extractions in one sitting sounds more like a test of endurance than a treatment plan. I'd probably tap out after two and see how things feel the next day, no shame in that. Your mouth needs time to heal, pushing through for the sake of finishing seems like an easy way to regret it later.

Honestly, I'm not sure this is that deep. It sounds like she just wanted you to be careful, which is totally fair. Like yeah, you adjusted your pressure, but isn't that just basic customer service? I feel like people make this whole 'skin barrier' thing sound way more dramatic than it actually is. Most of the time it's just about not scraping someone's face raw, which is pretty common sense if you ask me.
