Just had a client's husband ask me why I 'waste time' on a full consultation before every facial. He said his mechanic just gets to work.

I read an article about a high end tailor in London. He spends an hour just talking to a new client before he ever picks up a measuring tape. He says you need to know how the person stands, how they move, what their life is like. If a suit is just stitched without that, it will never fit right. It's the same idea. A mechanic works on a machine. You're working on a person's skin, which changes all the time. The consultation is the measuring tape.

That's a really good point from the tailor, @uma_baker88. But skin isn't the only thing that changes. A person's whole body changes shape with weight shifts, muscle gain, or even just posture over years. A good consultation should ask about future plans, like if someone wants to start lifting weights or is trying to lose weight. You're fitting clothes to a moving, changing person, not a mannequin.

Exactly, heard a surgeon say the same thing.
