Just realized I was over-exfoliating my clients for years
I used to do these aggressive 3-step chemical peels back to back because that's what I learned in school back in 2018. Then about 6 months ago a client with rosacea came in crying after a session, and I finally listened. Now I space treatments 4 weeks apart and focus more on barrier repair products like ceramides instead of stripping everything. Has anyone else switched from harsh exfoliation to a gentler approach with better long term results?

My first client back in 2019 literally peeled like a reptile and I thought it was a win.

2018 esthetics schools were pushing that aggressive stuff hard, I had classmates who thought more peeling = better results. But I think the real issue isn't the exfoliation itself, its not adjusting for each client's skin type and tolerance. I still do medium peels but only after a proper consulation where I really check their barrier function first.
