Overheard a client say my hydrafacial was 'too relaxing' and now I'm second-guessing my pressure settings
She told her friend at the front desk that she almost fell asleep but didn't feel like her pores got 'cleaned out' - has anyone else had a client complain about that and how do you balance between being too gentle and too aggressive without causing redness?

Hey did you catch that study they did on pressure settings for hydrafacials? I read somewhere that sometimes the suction strength matters more than the actual pressure for that 'clean' feeling, but too much can cause micro-tears even if there's no visible redness. Maybe try bumping up the suction just a tiny bit on the tip while keeping your hand pressure gentle, idk if that makes sense. For what it's worth, I've heard a couple estheticians say they use a slower pass speed too so the solution has more contact time without needing to push harder.

Three and a half turns on the suction dial and suddenly my face feels like it went three rounds with a Shop-Vac, so yeah @thomas.cameron I think you're onto something there. I tried that slower pass speed trick last week on a client who always complains about not feeling clean enough, and she finally said it felt different without me going full pressure on the hand piece. That micro-tear thing is no joke though, I had one girl who got those tiny pinpoint red spots after a session and we had to back off completely for two weeks.
