That moment I realized I was over-exfoliating my own skin for 2 years

I kept wondering why my face was always red and tight no matter how much moisturizer I used. Then a client casually mentioned she only exfoliates once a week, and I realized I was doing it every single day with a scrub AND a silicone brush. Has anyone else had that wake-up call where you were doing way more than needed to your own skin?

Oh gosh, that's rough. I feel you so hard on this one. I mean, I did basically the same thing for like a year with those harsh physical scrubs and a brush, thinking more was better. It took my skin literally starting to sting when I put on water for me to figure out I was wrecking my moisture barrier. Honestly, it's a really easy trap to fall into when everyone is selling you the next thing for "glowing skin." Hope your face is feeling a lot calmer now that you've figured it out.

The sting test is real... that moment your face burns from just water is a wake up call. I stripped everything back to just cleanser and moisturizer for two months straight. No actives, no scrubby stuff, nothing extra. Slowly added things back in one at a time to see what my skin could handle. Cleared up way faster than all those products ever helped.
