That moment when a simple mask turned into a red face disaster

I was doing a clay mask on a client I've seen for months. I got distracted and left it on way past the time it should have come off. When I finally checked, her skin was bright red and she said it stung. I felt awful and had to calm her down while I removed it gently. It took a week for the redness to fully fade with extra care. It made me see that no client is so routine that you can zone out. Now I set a timer for every step, no exceptions. I think getting too cozy with regulars can lead to silly mistakes.

Wait, the redness lasted an entire week? That's not a minor oops, that's a full-on skin crisis. Clay masks dry out fast, so leaving it on way too long must have sucked all the moisture out. I can't imagine the sting she felt, like a sunburn on steroids. Good call on the timer, but how did you not notice time flying by? Regulars deserve better than being forgotten like that.

Ever get so deep in your thoughts you lose track of time? That mistake finally made me see why timers are non-negotiable.
