Bought a $3 thrift store mug and discovered it was handmade
I grabbed this weird lumpy mug from the Goodwill on Elm Street last Saturday for $3. It had this little stamp on the bottom that I didn't even notice until I got home. Looked up the maker's mark online and turns out it was from a local potter who died back in 2018. Now I feel weird using it for my morning coffee because I keep thinking about who made it and why they let it go. Made me realize how much of a story every random object carries. Has anyone else gotten attached to something cheap just because of its backstory?

Why does the person who made it matter more than the person who drank out of it every day before you?

Found it helps to think about the story behind the maker versus just the daily user.
