Debate: Is it okay to fake a food allergy to skip a long line at the fair?
I went to our local county fair last Saturday and the line for the fried dough stand was about 45 minutes long. But I noticed they have a separate quick service window for people with gluten allergies. My buddy joked I should just say I have a gluten problem to get served in 3 minutes instead of waiting. On one hand it's just a white lie and the food is the same, but on the other hand it's disrespectful to people with real allergies. What do you all think, is it ever okay to bend the truth like that for a small convenience?

Man that's a tough one honestly. I get the temptation but yeah you're totally right about it being disrespectful to people who actually need it.

I mean you said "the food is the same" but that's actually not quite right. A lot of places that have gluten free options use different ingredients or separate prep areas so the food might taste different or be made with totally different stuff. But honestly the bigger thing for me is that it kinda makes it harder for people who really can't eat gluten. If the workers start thinking everyone is faking it they might not take actual allergies seriously. Idk maybe it's just me but I'd rather wait the 45 minutes than be that person ruining it for everyone else. Plus karma's real man, what goes around comes around.
