Found a wallet with $120 in it at the grocery store parking lot last Tuesday.
It had a local ID and some family photos inside. I turned it in at the customer service desk, but part of me wondered if I should have just taken the cash and left the wallet somewhere obvious. The money could have really helped me out this week. What would you have done in that spot?

Yeah but saying "better person" gets complicated because it's not really about the money, it's about the person who lost it. Those family photos probably meant way more to them than the cash did, and having that stuff back in their hands is a feeling worth more than $120. I once dropped a photo of my grandma at the mall and a stranger turned it in, I still think about that kindness years later. The money would have helped but you did the right thing for sure, especially since the ID alone is a headache to replace.

Better person than me" is a bit much, it's just basic decency. Not like you saved a life.
