Honestly, I don't think you should always tell the cashier they undercharged you
Tbh, this happened at the hardware store last week. I bought a new shovel and a bag of soil, and the total should have been about $45. The cashier only rang up the shovel for $22. I saw the mistake but didn't say anything. I know a lot of people would call that stealing, but the store is a huge chain and the soil was only $23. It felt like a tiny fix for a mistake they made. Has anyone else kept quiet on something like this?

It's still stealing even if it's a big company. The cashier could get in trouble for the mistake, and prices are already high enough without people taking stuff. I'd feel too guilty walking out knowing I didn't pay for what I got.

Yeah right, like the multi-billion dollar corporation is gonna miss one bag of chips. But you're not wrong, @gavink95, some poor kid at the register might get chewed out over it. Guess it comes down to whether your guilty conscience is louder than the little voice saying "free snacks.

Actually, the store itself is a local franchise. The big company gets their cut, but the owner is the one who eats the loss on stolen goods. That's a real person, not just a corporation.
