I bought a $40 'reusable' produce bag set that fell apart in a month
I got these mesh bags from a big store to cut down on plastic, but the seams ripped after maybe four trips to the market. It felt worse than just using the store's thin plastic bags because I wasted money AND created more trash. Has anyone found a brand that actually holds up for vegetables?

That "wasted money AND created more trash" feeling is the worst. It feels like so many "green" products are just cheap stuff with a higher price tag now.

But is it really that big a deal?

Laura, have you looked into what actually gets recycled versus what just gets thrown in the trash? A lot of those "green" products are made from mixed materials that can't be separated, so they end up in the landfill anyway. @claireo67 is right that it's frustrating when you pay extra for something that's supposed to be better for the planet, but it turns out to be just as wasteful. The real problem is that companies have figured out they can slap a leaf on the package and charge double, and nobody checks if it actually works. I think the key is looking for products that are made from one material, like pure cardboard or glass, so they have a real chance of being recycled.
