Overheard a coworker say they always take the last of the coffee without starting a new pot

Is it that hard to just hit the brew button after you pour your cup, or am I overreacting to what feels like a quiet slap in the face to everyone else in the office?

Guilty, I've been that person... sorry, past coworkers.

@gibson.robert You're not wrong at all, I've seen that exact thing too. One time I watched a guy at a shop stare at the empty pot, look me dead in the eye, then walk away with his cold cup. I couldn't help it, I called out to him and he just shrugged and kept going. There's this unspoken rule that someone else will handle it, but nobody ever does. It's like a game of chicken but everyone loses.

Yeah, viola_butler, you admit it. So here's what I gotta ask - what goes through your head in that moment? Like, are you running late, or do you just not care? I've seen people walk past an empty pot, look at it, and just set their mug down and walk away. You're already right there, the coffee's in a cabinet two feet over. What's the holdup?
