Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say he never returns his shopping cart

I was grabbing a coffee this morning and a guy at the next table was telling his friend he never puts his cart back because 'someone gets paid to do it.' It just sat with me all day. I always put mine away, but I never really thought about it as a choice that says something. It's such a small thing, but it feels like a tiny test of whether you're thinking about the person after you. Does anyone else have a small habit they do just because it feels like the right thing to do?

Used to think that, then saw one hit a car.

Hitting a car sounds bad, but was it actually damaged? Sometimes it's just a loud noise and a scratch, not like the car got totaled or anything.
