Pro tip: check the return policy before you buy a 'refurbished' appliance online

I bought a 'refurbished' air purifier from a third-party seller for $120, and it arrived making a grinding noise after two days. The seller's policy said no returns on refurbished items, so now I'm stuck with a broken unit and out the cash. What's the right move here, just eat the cost and warn others, or try to fight it?

I used to believe a seller's policy was the final word. A bad experience with a tool supplier changed my view. You should absolutely fight it. Start by opening a formal dispute with the payment method you used, like your credit card company. Document everything, the noise, the policy, all your messages. These platforms often side with the buyer when an item is not as described. Eating the cost only lets them keep doing this to others.

Ugh, tell me about it, I've been that sucker too.

Ever check if the item's listed as "refurbished" or "used"? Some sellers swap those words to avoid rules, but your card company might see it as a lie.
