PSA: Letting a stranger go ahead of you in line just bit me hard

I let an elderly lady cut in front at the grocery checkout yesterday because she only had two items, but she took 8 minutes fumbling with coupons and writing a check. Has anyone else stopped offering to let people cut after a bad experience like that?

8 minutes is annoying, sure, but I've sat in traffic longer than that just trying to leave my own neighborhood. If the biggest hardship of your day is having to stand still for a few extra minutes, you're probably doing alright. Plus, you got to feel good about yourself for being nice, even if the lady was slow. The real lesson here isn't "never let people cut," it's "bring a book or scroll your phone while you wait.

Exactly. People act like 8 minutes is a lifetime but half of us waste that much time just staring at our phone every day. Letting someone merge isn't gonna kill you, and yeah, it feels decent to be the one who didn't cause a scene. Most folks just need to chill out and realize the road is full of other people, not just you. Scroll your feed and move on with your life.
