PSA: That guy at the park left his wallet on the bench... I didn't know what to do

I was at Washington Park last Saturday just sitting and reading when I noticed a brown wallet on the bench next to me. Nobody was around so I picked it up and opened it to find an ID and about $60 cash. My first thought was to turn it into park security but their booth was empty. I waited 20 minutes and nobody came back so I ended up mailing it to the address on the license with a note inside. Now I keep wondering if I should have just left it there or tried harder to find the guy... what would you have done in that spot?
