Vent: I used to keep quiet about the broken self-checkout, now I always flag it.

After seeing a guy in Denver last month intentionally skip scanning a $40 item, I decided my silence was basically helping him steal. Do you speak up or just mind your own business?

oh i had this exact thing happen to me at target a few months back. some kid was ringing up cheap stuff but skipping the expensive detergent under his cart. i used to just stare at my phone and pretend i didn't notice. but watching someone walk out with like forty bucks worth of stuff just felt wrong after a while. so now i hit the little help button on the screen and say something like "hey i think this machine glitched on that last scan" which keeps it low key. @sageallen i get why silence feels like a solid business plan though. it's easier to not get involved. but for me it got to the point where i was basically an accomplice by just standing there. now i just flag it and move on with my day.

My silence was basically a side hustle for shoplifters (a bad one, obviously).

Silence is a solid business plan, actually.
