Warning: I gave up on the 'buy local' rule for my vegetables and it feels better

For a long time, I felt guilty if I didn't get all my produce from the expensive farmers market in town. I thought it was the only right choice. But last month, I compared my usual $40 market haul to a $15 bag from the big grocery store. The market stuff was great, but it went bad in 3 days. The store stuff lasted over a week. I live alone, and I was throwing away so much food and money. Now I buy the sturdy basics like potatoes and onions from the store, and only get the fancy stuff locally. I'm wasting less and saving cash. Is it wrong to pick less waste over the 'local at all costs' idea?

How much food were you throwing out each week? I switched to frozen veggies for the same reason.
