Caught myself rinsing dishes before the dishwasher for 28 years

My neighbor saw me scrubbing plates at the sink and laughed, said the machine has a sensor that actually works better with food bits on them. I tried her way with a full load of baked-on lasagna and they came out sparkling clean without any pre-rinse. Has anyone else been wasting water this whole time or am I the only holdout?

Twenty eight years is a long time but is it really that wild? People stick with what works for them, especially if it's a job or a place they like. I've seen folks stay in the same spot for decades and they're fine, not exactly groundbreaking. Everyone acts like switching things up every few years is the only way, but plenty of people just settle in. You do what you gotta do to pay bills and keep your life steady, right? It's not that deep unless you make it that way.
