Chat with my grandma changed how I store onions
She told me to keep them separate from potatoes because the gas makes each other rot faster. I tried it for two weeks and my onions lasted almost a month longer. Anyone else get kitchen advice that just clicks after years of doing it wrong?

And the garlic thing too, right? I started keeping my onions in a paper bag with holes punched in it after hearing that tip from my aunt. Makes a huge difference when you actually try it instead of just nodding along.

oh yeah the paper bag thing is actually clutch, but you gotta make sure the holes are big enough for airflow. my grandma told me the same thing and i thought she was just old school but she was right about the whole potato thing too. the only thing i'd add is that you shouldn't store onions in plastic bags at all, even in the fridge, because they get sweaty and rot way faster. paper bags or mesh bags are the way to go, and keeping them in a dark spot helps a ton too.
