I used to peel potatoes with a regular peeler, now I use a serrated one

I always hated peeling potatoes, especially when they're all bumpy and weird shaped. I'd spend 10 minutes fighting with a standard peeler and still leave half the skin on or cut my knuckles. Then my buddy at the fishing spot last Sunday showed me his serrated peeler from the dollar store. I laughed at first, but he made me try it on a sweet potato right there. The serrated edge grips the skin way better, even on soft or lumpy potatoes. It cut my peeling time down to maybe 4 minutes for a whole bag. Has anyone else found a random kitchen tool that changed how you cook?

Man, that's exactly how it goes. It's funny how we get stuck in a rut with the same tools for years, then one little swap changes everything. I've noticed that same pattern with a bunch of stuff, like switching from a regular spatula to a fish turner for flipping burgers. It's just a small change in design, but it totally changes how easy the job is. Makes you wonder how many other things we're using the hard way without even knowing it.

Yeah I used to think serrated peelers were just gimmicky junk, figured the teeth would just tear up the potato and make a mess. But after trying one on a batch of sweet potatoes I changed my mind completely, it actually grabs the skin instead of sliding off. Now I can peel a whole bag in no time without cussing at the sink.
