My coworker's blunt comment fixed my email replies overnight

My boss told me my emails sounded like a robot wrote them. I started reading each reply out loud before hitting send and cut my back-and-forth from 5 emails to 2 per thread. Anyone else get feedback that changed how you communicate at work?

Reading them out loud is the only thing that actually works for me.

Reading out loud is SUCH a game changer. It's funny how we're all so used to typing that we forget how things actually SOUND. I've noticed the same thing happens with texts and DMs too, like when someone messages "k" and you can't tell if they're mad or just busy. That little pause to actually hear the words makes you realize all the tiny ways we communicate wrong. It's like the whole world could use a "read it out loud" rule before hitting send on ANYTHING.
