My husband told me my knife angle was wrong - fixed everything

Been cooking dinner for 12 years. Never had a problem. Then he watched me chop onions and said I was holding the knife at 45 degrees instead of straight. Told me to try a 15 degree angle for slicing. First time I did it the onion didn't slide around at all. Cut my prep time from 20 minutes down to 12. Anyone else get called out on basic stuff like this after years of doing it wrong?

Different strokes is right, there's more than one way to skin a cat. If you're getting the job done and nobody's bleeding, I'd say stick with what works for you.

I gotta respectfully push back on the "fixed everything" part. I mean sure, if it cut your prep time that's great. But 12 years is a long time to do something one way and suddenly a 15 degree angle is the magic solution. My wife once told me I was peeling potatoes wrong - she said I was going the wrong direction with the peeler. I switched it up and it felt awkward for weeks. Honestly I still go back to my old way sometimes cause it just feels more natural. Different strokes for different folks, you know.
