Overheard a cashier at Ace Hardware suggest vinegar and it blew my mind
I was at Ace Hardware last Saturday buying one of those big spray bottles for my patio and the cashier told a customer that instead of buying expensive weed killer, just mix 1 gallon of white vinegar with a cup of salt and a squirt of dish soap. I tried it that afternoon on the cracks in my driveway and by the next morning the weeds were totally brown and crispy. Saved me like 15 bucks and I didn't have to worry about harsh chemicals near my dog. Has anyone else tried this ratio or do you tweak it differently?

Make sure you don't spray it near concrete that's less than a year old or it'll stain it.

Damn, that sucks to hear about the staining. I almost used it on my new walkway last week and now I'm glad I didn't. Thanks for the heads up though, that's exactly the kind of thing you don't think about until it's too late. I've been telling everyone about this mix and it never crossed my mind that concrete age matters. Solid catch.
