That coffee shop in Portland had a genius trick for stale pastries

I was at this little spot called Heart Roasters last week and noticed they kept their day-old croissants in a paper bag with a damp paper towel before reheating. Brought them back to life way better than my microwave method at home. Has anyone else tried this or got a better way to save leftover baked goods?

Yeah, the damp paper towel trick is solid. Beats nuking them into cardboard.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one a little, @charlesanderson. I mean, I've tried the damp paper towel thing and half the time it just makes the bread soggy on one side while the other side is still cold. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have a slightly dry reheat than deal with that weird texture. Also, if you're using a microwave that's even a little too strong, that paper towel can start steaming the bread into a weird mush. Idk, I think there's something to be said for just biting the bullet and using a toaster or an oven instead.
