That ziplock bag trick for ripening bananas actually works
I always hated waiting for bananas to ripen for banana bread. Tried the paper bag thing but it took 2 days still. Then a neighbor told me to put them in a ziplock with an apple overnight. Tossed a granny smith in there with 3 green bananas Sunday night and by Monday morning they were spotty and soft. Anyone else got a faster way to speed up fruit?

Try putting a ripe tomato in the bag with them instead. Works faster.

Right, because we all just have extra ripe tomatoes lying around for ripening emergencies. I tried that once and ended up with a tomato that went bad before the avocado did. Now I'm just committed to the paper bag method, even if it takes a full week and I check on it like it's a sick pet. Maybe I'll try the tomato trick if I ever get desperate enough to buy avocados three weeks in advance.
