Woke up to my foundation cracking overnight after 8 years of ignoring that one leaky pipe

That tiny drip under the sink I kept ignoring finally rotted through the subfloor and now I'm looking at a 2,500 dollar repair bill. Anyone else have a small fix they put off that turned into a nightmare later?

Tbh $2,500 sounds about right for that kind of rot damage, but you might wanna double check if your home insurance covers it if it was a slow leak. Pretty sure some policies cover sudden pipe bursts but not gradual stuff like this.

My buddy Mike had this exact issue last year @jasonc50. He found a wet spot behind his bathroom vanity and thought it was no big deal. Turned out to be a slow drip from a supply line that had been going for months. His insurance straight up denied the claim because they said it was "gradual damage" not a sudden event. He ended up paying $2,800 out of pocket for the rot repair and new flooring. The contractor said if he'd caught it sooner it would've been maybe half that. Worth checking your policy before you fork over cash.
