Finally got my fridge organized with dollar store bins

Used to shove leftovers in there and lose stuff for weeks, but after I grabbed 8 clear bins for $6 total last month, I can actually see everything. Anyone else find cheap containers way better than the fancy brand ones?

How do the dollar store bins handle the weight of something like a gallon of milk or a big jar of pasta sauce? The ones I've tried from there either crack after a few months or the plastic gets that cloudy look that makes labels impossible to read. I'm always torn because the price is right but the durability is hit or miss depending on which store you hit.

Yeah the cloudy plastic thing is a real problem. I read on a home organization blog that some dollar store bins are made from a different grade of plastic that reacts weird to dishwasher heat, which is why they get that foggy look. Hand washing them seems to help but who has time for that with cheap bins. As for the weight thing, I've had good luck with the ones from Dollar Tree that are a bit thicker, but I wouldn't trust them with a full gallon of milk. If you look at the bottom of the bin before you buy and it feels flimsy or has that thin little ridge, it's gonna crack for sure.
