Had to pick between a scrub brush and a dish sponge for cleaning my cast iron pan

I was staring at my greasy cast iron skillet last night and realized the scrub brush would scratch the seasoning but the sponge couldn't get off the stuck bits. I grabbed a $2 roll of coarse salt and used that as a scrubber instead, and it worked way better than either option. Has anyone else tried something weird like salt or coffee grounds to clean their pans?

3 tablespoons of kosher salt and a paper towel is my go to for stuck on bits on cast iron. The salt acts as a gentle abrasive that scrubs off the gunk without scraping the seasoning off. Then I just rinse it out, dry it on the stove, and give it a quick oil wipe before putting it away.

Salt works great for cast iron, actually.
