Overheard a neighbor bragging about her $20 grocery bill for the week
I was at the bus stop last Tuesday and this woman was telling her friend she only spends $20 on groceries each week. She said she buys bulk rice, beans, and frozen veggies from Aldi, then cooks everything in one pot on Sunday. I tried it myself last weekend and made enough chili and burrito bowls to last through Thursday. The trick was using canned tomatoes with seasoning already added, which saved me buying separate spices. My bill came out to $18.47 for the whole week, but I did skip meat entirely. Has anyone else found a cheap meal prep method that actually tastes good and keeps you full?

Yo that's actually wild how one little grocery trip can snowball into realizing how much we waste on convenience foods without even thinking about it. Once you start batch cooking beans and rice it's like you see how that $50 fast food order could have been a whole week of meals instead. It's honestly kind of messed up how the cheapest food options are also the ones that take the most time and planning, so most people never even try.

Got a buddy who tried this and ended up with a killer case of gas from all those beans. He said his wife made him sleep on the couch for two nights straight.
