Shoutout to my neighbor who told me vinegar ruins granite countertops

She saw me wiping down my kitchen counters with a vinegar spray last month and yelled at me. I thought she was just being dramatic. But then I looked it up and yeah, acidic stuff will eat away the sealant over time. Now I have a permanent dull spot near the sink where I always sprayed. Trying a baking soda paste to fix it but not sure it's working. Anyone else mess up their counters with some common cleaning trick?

Oh man, the baking soda paste is actually a bad idea here. Baking soda is alkaline and can be just as harsh as vinegar on the sealant, especially if you're scrubbing it in. I made the same mistake and ended up with a cloudy patch that looked worse than the dull spot. For real, you might need to reseal the whole countertop instead of trying to fix just that spot. There's a product called granite sealer you can get at any hardware store for like $15, and it's way easier than messing with home remedies. Just wipe it on, let it sit, buff it off. Learned that the hard way after trying every DIY trick in the book.

Ugh, yeah I did the same thing... tried baking soda on a water ring and ended up with this weird foggy spot that wouldn't go away. Had to redo the whole section with sealer anyway. Live and learn I guess.
