The time my grocery cart became a runaway train at Costco

Last Saturday at the Costco in Portland, I loaded up my cart with a 48-pack of toilet paper and a big bag of dog food. I turned to grab a jar of salsa off the shelf and the cart just started rolling down the aisle on its own. I had to sprint after it and caught it just before it slammed into the freezer section. Now I always keep one hand on the cart handle no matter what, even if I'm just reaching for something quick. Has anyone else had a cart pull a fast one on them like that?

OMG this totally reminds me of the time I was at Target and my cart just decided it wanted to be a shopping cart olympian. I let go for one second to grab a bag of chips and it took off down the snack aisle like it was possessed. I swear I almost knocked over like five displays trying to catch it. Now I just park it sideways or against a shelf like a shield.

Lol that cart Olympic thing is too real. The other day I went full running man down the coffee aisle trying to grab mine before it hit a display of Keurig cups. I ended up tripping over my own feet and just let it go, figured the cart had earned its freedom at that point. Now I just glare at every cart I grab like we're about to wrestle in the parking lot.
