Wasted $60 on fancy sponge mops that never worked right
I kept buying those name brand sponge mops with the squeegee handle thinking they'd save time on my kitchen floor. Every single one fell apart within a month. The sponge would slide off or the handle would break where the plastic hinge was. Last one lasted exactly three weeks before the sponge head just flopped sideways. I finally switched to a cheap string mop from the grocery store that cost $8. Works better and I can toss the head in the wash when it gets grimy. Anyone else had better luck with the old school kind over those fancy mops?

Totally feel your pain on this. I went through three of those fancy sponge mops in one year and every single time the little plastic hinge that connects the squeegee to the handle just snapped clean off (like, not even a dramatic break, just a sad little crack). And the sponge heads always got that weird slimy smell no matter how much I rinsed them. Switched to a basic cotton string mop with a separate bucket and wringer and it's been going strong for over two years now. The heads are cheap to replace and I can actually scrub tough spots instead of just smearing grime around.
