Hit 40,000 miles on my car this morning and it felt like a punch in the gut
I know everyone talks about big round numbers being exciting, but 40,000 just hit different. It's not even a major milestone like 100,000, but it got me thinking about all the trips I took to get there. That's 40 gas station coffees I didn't need, 3 overdue oil changes I skipped, and a dent in the passenger door from a random parking lot in Boise. I thought I'd feel proud or something, but instead I just felt old and tired of driving. Has anyone else had a number sneak up on them and make them feel weird about it?

Got a buddy who hit 60,000 on his truck and realized he'd driven past the same broken fence post on his commute over 12,000 times. That one little detail made him quit his job and move to Montana in two weeks. Numbers can definitely mess with your head more than you expect.

Was it really the fence post though, or was he already looking for an excuse to leave?
