Hot take: I bought a $25 'universal' phone mount for my car that fell apart in 3 days
The clip snapped right off on a normal bump, so my phone just slid onto the floor. Anyone have a brand that actually holds up?

kaiblack hit it right about the metal clips. I've had two different plastic mounts snap the same way - that little clip arm just can't take the weight of a phone bouncing around. My buddy swears by the iOttie mounts with the metal hook, and I've seen his hold up through some rough dirt roads without budging. The plastic ones might look fine in the package, but once you hit a summer day and the plastic gets hot and brittle, they're done for.

That $25 price point is usually a red flag for cheap plastic. Did it feel flimsy right out of the box, or did it seem decent until it broke? I've had way better luck with mounts that use metal clips instead.
