My attempt to fix a squeaky floorboard with a YouTube tutorial backfired

I watched a video that said to sprinkle talcum powder in the crack and step on it a bunch. I used almost a whole container on the board by my fridge. It didn't stop the squeak, it just puffed up a white cloud every time we walked by for a week. Has anyone in Phoenix found a method that actually works for old hardwood?

Just turned your kitchen into a ghost town. Classic YouTube fix. I tried the screw method into the joist and it actually worked, but man was I nervous.
