Spent 3 hours trying to get a new smart bulb to connect to my wifi last night. It was supposed to take 5 minutes.

Honestly, I've had the opposite experience. My last few smart home gadgets connected in under a minute. The setup apps have gotten way better. Maybe you just got a bad bulb from a brand with terrible software. It happens, but it's not the norm anymore. I'd return that one and try a different brand.

Oh, have you ever had a buddy spend two hours trying to get a lightbulb to work? My friend Tom spent a whole evening cursing at his phone, app kept crashing, and the bulb wouldn't even blink. He swapped brands and it worked in like 30 seconds, so yeah, it's hit or miss depending on what you buy.
