Spent $45 on a fancy garlic press and it bent on the third use
After watching my mom mash cloves with a knife for years, I finally bought a nice $45 garlic press from a kitchen supply store, and the handle literally bent out of shape after three cloves, has anyone else been burned by kitchen gadgets that just can't handle real use?

Return it and get your money back. For garlic just smash cloves with the flat side of a chef's knife and chop them up, it's faster and the tool won't break.

Knife skills are great but not everyone has the hand strength for that smash technique after a long day. Actually the REAL problem nobody's talking about is how these garlic presses always leave half the clove stuck in the nooks. You wash them and two days later find a dried up piece of garlic and it's DISGUSTING. My mom's old press had this flap thing that popped out to clean it easier but they don't make those anymore. That's the feature these companies need to bring back not making them out of weaker metal.
