The fact that honey never spoils actually kinda freaks me out now

I was reading about ancient Egyptian tombs the other night... they found pots of honey that's like 3,000 years old and still edible. That's older than most civilizations we learn about in school. I just think about all the stuff in my fridge that goes bad in a week and it messes with my head a little. Has anyone else stumbled on a fact that made them look at something totally different?

Oh man, that honey fact got me too when I first heard it. lol what really got me was learning that polar bear fur isn't actually white, it's transparent and just looks white because of how light bounces off it. I stared at my dog for like 10 minutes after that trying to figure out if I even knew what color anything really is. It's wild how one random fact can just flip your whole brain upside down like that. Honey being basically immortal is definitely up there on the weirdest facts list though.

...and what really gets me about the honey thing is that it's not just old, it's chemically designed to not spoil. Like, honey is basically sugar with almost no water, so bacteria and mold just can't live in it. But here's the part nobody talks about - if you dilute honey with water, it'll ferment and go bad pretty quick. So the only reason it's "immortal" is because bees made it that way on purpose. Makes you wonder what else in nature is secretly engineered to last forever but we just don't know about it yet. Like maybe there's some fungus or plant stuff that's been sitting around for thousands of years too but we haven't found it.
